Pressing Notes

The educational title Math that Counts is really a set of five Encyclopedia Britannica educational films. Each program deals with a certain type of simple math function. DiscoVision didn't find it necessary to include the chapter information on the jacket.
Side 1:
  1. Lintola (addition with carrying)
  2. Filbert and the Melon Cheater (subtraction with borrowing)
  3. The Tree of Truth (relationship between addition and subtraction)
Side 2:
  1. The Magic Rectangle (short multiplication)
  2. Banana Fever (short division)

The video transfer is typical of most of the Encyclopedia Britannica Educational films. The image is sharp and clear with very good color. The audio transfer is typical for the 16mm film source and is not exceptional in any form. DiscoVision edited the closing credits off three of the programs, causing abrupt changes from one segment to another. Further, as with most chapter encoded discs of the period, the chapters don't actually change until nearly 100 frames into the program. Math that Counts was last listed in the October 1980 catalog.

Release History
